Samsung Steel Mobile Phone From Vodafone – Worth Checking Out?

November 30th, 2009

Today, there are dozens of brands and hundreds of models of mobile phones that you can choose from in the market. Choosing the ‘best’ one in the market is really a matter of personal preference.

Are you a big fan of eye candy mobile phones and the really sleek, fashionable designs even though the features are so-so? Or would you rather have a complete set of mobile phone features, no matter what the design of the phone looks like?

Also, there are mobile phone users who are either looking for: a camera phone or a music phone. Mobile phones today can be compartmentalized in these 2 categories. There are mobile phones which have better camera than music features. On the other hands, there are mobile phone models which will please even the most finicky tastes of music lovers, and the camera is just average.

However, if you look hard enough, you may find a mobile phone which gives you the best of both worlds. Read on to learn more about the Samsung Steel mobile phones issued by Vodafone in the UK.

Features of the Samsung Steel Vodafone

First, here is a complete list of the features included in the Samsung Steel handset. Decide for yourself whether the mobile phone is worth checking out or not:
- 2.2 inch TFT, 16M color display
- USB and Bluetooth connectivity with A2DP
- 3.15 Megapixel, autofocus camera with video capability
- MP3/AAC/eACC+/WMA media player
- FM radio
- T9
- 30 MB built-in memory
- Picture editing

The Pros and Cons of the Samsung Steel Mobile Phone

Vodafone is the largest mobile telecomm network company in the world, and their headquarters is located in Berkshire, England. If you are looking for a phone which is issued by the company, then you may want to take a look at the pros and cons of the Samsung Steel mobile phone.

The design of the Samsung Steel mobile phone is similar to its predecessor, the Samsung Soul. Samsung Steel is a slider phone with a silver-and-black colour scheme. The first thing to notice about this mobile phone is that it is wider in measurement than the average phone in the market. It measured 48.9 mm wide and 145 mm tall when opened.

As a result, the Samsung Steel fits in your hands better than the wider phone models out in the market today. The sliding mechanism has a solid feel to it

Despite the large screen, the Samsung Steel’s screen is quite difficult to read in bright light, so you may need to squint when reading your text messages outdoors.

There is a headset connector if you want to listen to some music. However, this is not the unit for you if you are looking for hours of uninterrupted music playing. As a bonus, you will get to enjoy access to Vodafone’s Mobile TV feature.

So what is the overall verdict? The Samsung Steel mobile unit from Vodafone is pretty much a mid-range phone, with average features. What is impressive is its usability and the tough exterior – this is one phone which looks solid and sturdy enough to handle the rigors of a busy lifestyle.

Mobile Phones – Keeping Your Phone Secure

November 30th, 2009

It is hard to find somebody under the age of 50 now who does not have a mobile phone. With the abundance of gadgets and extras, as well as the huge choice of design, color and manufacturer it is little surprise that they have become more of a must have techno fashion gadget than a simple communication tool.

However, with all of these wonderful additions such as cameras, videos, MP3 players and, in one case, “kiss sensitive technology” mobile phones are the perfect target for thieves and pickpockets.

It may surprise you, depending on how safe you usually are, but 6 out of 10 people leave the pin off their mobile phones, or if they do use a pin, a huge amount of us have the password set to 0000. You should keep the pin on your phone, and try not to set it to anything like your bank pin number.

Other than the pin system, mobile companies have been trying to improve mobile phone security by means of new technology. Examples of what may be soon to come is a Thumb-Print scan on the number pad of your phone, that will scan yours and a limited amount of others’ prints and will not work for anybody else.

Also, there is a two piece system being tested. You wear one part, for example as a bracelet or badge, and the other piece is inside your phone. When the system is on, and the two get further than 10 meters apart, the phone will emit an ear piercingly loud siren letting everybody know that whoever has it on their person has stolen the phone.

More unusual, is the “swagger” technology that has been created by Finnish scientists VTT. The technology records the phone owners walk style, pace and movement, so that when it is subjected to a pattern that does not match it, it will lock up. You must then enter a number of passwords before being able to unlock it again.

Hopefully these new methods will be available in our shops in the near future, so that we can enjoy our favourite gadget without worrying about people praying on it when our backs are turned. Personally, I like the thumb reader one the best, very James bond!
